Physiognomy of Wednesday.

Coffee, quiet, and the wolf warming my feet.  Moment savoring time.

Last few days have been going at a pace that's pushed a little too hard.  This morning's goal is to let the brain float still in it's jelly for a few hours.

It's Wednesday, the kids are off to their other parents til Monday. It's a weekly grieving, really. Wednesday always has a decent spoonful of that type of bitter frosting slathered on to the already lumpy, dry muffin of hump day. Bleh.  It's tough being away from the kids so much. Though before there's too much focus on this let's remember that after the kitchen  is thoroughly attacked this afternoon, all will stay clean for a couple days!  Must be positive. It's easy to get sucked on a sticky bog-ish thought path if I'm not careful.

Thankfully, the time to begin considering the garden has returned.  Weeds are a crazy forest thanks to all that welcome rain we've had. Oh my gosh, this stormy weather, t's been perfect.  Today's sky is clear though, sun shining on my giant weed patch.  Just remembered this year's planting will be different than last because there will be no invasive mini yellow pear tomatoes! No way.  Those things wanted to choke anything that grew around them. Just several rows of proper Roma and Beefsteaks, thank you very much.  The other rows will be lined with chilies, peppers, eggplant, potatoes etc.   Happy sigh.  The chore to weed will be sad, they're just springing from the ground with so much life! I'm pagan enough to need to dance naked in that gorgeousness if half of it weren't stinging nettles.

As soon as it warms up, the Snape will begin his tinkering rose fetish.  It's so fascinating to watch him grow his plants from cuttings.  Gentleness and precise method. This year he has a greenhouse to work in and it's hard not to be excited about what he'll do this season given the proper equipment. Then there's last year's blossoms to anticipate. Christmas in April.

On to other kinds art.

Here's a discovery worth nothing:  Charles Le Brun.  An artist and philosopher from the Baroque era with interest in physiognomy, he imagined what humans would look like had they evolved from different species.  The drawings are so charming that they're impossible not to share.  Here they are.
